Chapter Chat

This term was the first time Jackson's Studio joined Chapter Chat, a Twitter-based book chat for New Zealand students in Years 5-6. We read the book Ms Bixby's Last Day! This week coming is our last week, but we were super organised and finished the book on Friday. Each week we read part of the book and complete tasks based on the chapter. On Fridays we join other NZ students on Twitter to share our work and discuss the pages we have read. As well as encouraging a love of reading, Chapter Chat also provides a great opportunity to learn about good social media etiquette and practise using social media in a positive way.

Here is my gravestone that I

Wainui Camp

From Wednesday 17th May to Friday 19th May we went on camp to Wainui. Some of the things we did were raft building, kayaking and abseiling. My highlight from camp was abseiling. Here is my camp poem where I have used my senses to describe the best thing I did on camp.

CAMP CHALLENGE

I heard people screaming “ Weeeeeeeeeeeee” as they abseiled down the 10 metre tree.

I heard people chanting “You can do it Jonty!” as I kept climbing higher and higher.

I saw the tree looming up before me while I looked up the great height.

I felt the huge lump in the tree scratch me while I climbed past it.

I felt my legs shake frantically as I asked for some help to stand up.

I wondered if the rope would snap and I would fall down, killing myself.

I wondered if I would land in the tiny river near the landing place and get very wet feet.

I hope you enjoyed my poem.

What was your highlight from going on camp?
