Division problem solving

Last week our class was doing some problem solving. We were learning how to solve division problems by using different strategies.

Here is one of my questions that I solved with my maths mate.

Francois was making some new rugby bibs for his rugby team. He had a total of 3.2 metres of fabric. Each bib takes 0.4m of fabric to make. How many bibs can Francois make for his team?

I have decided to use the strategies place value and reversibility.
Here is my place value strategy:

3.2 ÷ 0.4 = 8

2.0 ÷ 0.4 = 5
1.2 ÷ 0.4 = 3
5 + 3 = 8
Here is my reversibility strategy:
3.2 ÷ 0.4 = 8
0.4 x 8 = 3.2
0.4 x (5) =2.0
0.4 x (3) =1.2

I hope you learnt a different way to solve a division problem.

Red Rocks Diorama

Last term for Home Learning we constructed Red Rocks Dioramas to show our understanding of the novel we read "Red Rocks". At the end of last term we bought our creations to school and we enjoyed sharing them with our class and other Legend classes. My scene shows when Cara threw the computer out the window. She threw it out because she heard Jake talking to his dad about a seal skin which she was looking for. Jake (the boy) is running to the boat to get it. The things I used to make my diorama were paper, cardboard, paints and rocks.

Here is a photo of my finished Red Rocks diorama.
